Women's Studies

Department of Women's Studies

Women's Studies encompasses areas related to women's history, culture, and experience. Majors in Women's Studies develop analytic skills to consider a variety of theories and perspectives. By understanding the historic and contemporary forces that determine status, students can assess the social forces that influence them. In addition, Women's Studies courses offer information preparing students for life issues, such as balancing personal and professional lives, work and family issues, and career development. An overview of the status of women in various fields and institutional settings helps Women's Studies students more accurately evaluate choices available to them
