Due to a downturn in the economy, we often get questions in Peer Career such as “Will I be able to find a job when I graduate,” or “What are the best fields to go into to guarantee a job when I graduate?” The answer to both of these questions is that there is no guarantee that anyone will have a job when they graduate. There are many factors that can determine your job search success including gaining experience through clubs, organizations, work, volunteer and internships; expanding your job searching geographically (in other words not planning to only work in NC); and utilizing the Career Development Center.
However, there are some fields/careers that are predicted to be high growth areas in the next 6-7 years. According to the U.S. Department of Labor’s Bureau of Labor Statistics, the following information highlights the top 20 fastest growing occupations from 2006-2016.
